Vittorio Emmanuele II, Equestrian Monument on the promenade Riva degli Schiavoni in Venice. Near Saint Marks square and in from of the Londra Palace. Vittorio Emmanuele II served in the First Italian War of Independence (1848-1949) under King Charles Albert, his father. He fought the front line at battles of Pastrengo, Santa Lucia, Foito and Custoza. He went on to become King of Italy and was know as Father of the Fatherland by Italians.
